Family Values ’07

(Originally written August 11th, 2007, 5:08 P.M.)

My body hurts. Which is completely awesome in this case. Yesterday morning I woke up at 5 a.m., went to work like any other day, and then rushed home with Scott. We met up with Kris and Cody, then were off on our way to Indy. The gates for Family Values opened at 3; we arrived about 4:30, right in the middle of "Hell Yeah." We missed Trivium and some other band, but it's all good. I wanted to see Trivium, but oh well. As we get there, some woman is yelling out that nobody can have digital cameras; having mine in my pocket and eager to get some shots, I was kinda pissed about that, but I smuggled it in anyways. Well, not so much smuggled as kept it in my pocket and hoped security didn't notice.

I didn't really like "Hell Yeah" that much, but fortunately they weren't onstage too long. Next up was Flyleaf. I haven't heard too much of their stuff, but I think they're pretty good. They're not bad live, but they could've been better. The lead singer is really cute and I wish I could've met up with the band.

Atreyu was next up and they kicked ass. They got better the more songs they played, and they were definitely worth seeing. They ended with "Lip Gloss And Black," and it was amazing. They played some new stuff and I want to get ahold of it when its released.

Evanescence made the entire concert for me. They're my favorite of all the bands that played and Amy Lee has an amazing voice. They mostly did stuff from their new album, though the cover of "People Are Strange" by The Doors was strangely awesome.

Korn ended the night, and though they aren't one of my favorite bands, I have to admit they gave a hell of a show. Some of my best pictures came from them, I think. They played Twisted Transistor really fast which kinda sucked, but it's still a great song.

I'm really glad I went; it was my first major concert and the bands were all good. I don't think I've ever seen so many attractive girls all in one place; goths, redheads, nerdy chicks..... =D

Everything was so expensive though.... Drinks ranged from 4 - 6$, and Margaritas were 10$ - 12$. I like booze, but I'm cheap, so ultimately I didn't drink. Getting out of the parking lot was a nightmare, and I was ready to sleep at 10 p.m., but we didn't leave there til about midnight or 12:30, and didn't get home til about 1a.m. All in all though, it was a good time. I really like how some of the pictures came out. Tell me what you think, if you want.

Sounds cool, glad you had a good time. Sucks that you had to miss the start of the show because of work. I had to look up pics of the Flyleaf lead singer because I couldn't see that well in your pictures, but I agree she is pretty cute

I wanted to go to the Jimmy Buffet concert this year but couldn't afford his tickets
