Camping: A Sassy Bill Certified Activity?

So I went camping on May 31st. The camping trip ended June 4th. It was pretty fun. Instead of doing the same ole blah blah blah this blog is going to be loaded with pics, so dial-up users, beware.

now, im going to say the two grossest things here:

1. i think i used the facilities a total of 3 times while i was there.

2. i forgot my ball powder. sweaty sassy bill.

They day started off pretty good, I finished packing, ate, and then Kurtis came to pick me up. We drove through part of Shelbyville and I saw the best warning sign in the world:

Oh, splendid! We continued driving and eventually went to Wal-Mart so I could get a memory card for my newly purchased digital camera (ugggh, so much money spent on that, and then a whopping amount the previous day, May 29....)

So after the camping trip etc, I have a little over $200. That includes in the bank too, *sigh* so Im dirt poor again. But anyways, we meet up with Kirby, eat some delicious Taco Bell and then part ways. Then the unthinkable happened! I was attacked by savages. I managed to fend them, but I did not walk away unscathed.

Eventually we arrive at the campsite and set up our tent. After Norcross comes back to her camp, we drive around and gather firewood. That was interesting, at best. After returning to camp with tons of firewood, Kurtis realizes he lost his knife, so we walk around the campgrounds, looking in the various spots where we... acquired.... firewood. We eventually find it, go up a little trail that leads to a projection screen and has benches, then find more wood. we take it back to camp.

theres a fallen tree there, so kurtis brings out his hatchet and goes at it....

(kurtis in trees)

we hang out for a while, then go to sleep.

the next day we wake up, eat, and go hiking. I thought it was a long hike while we walked that day. well, we make it to the pioneer village and i get a cool pic of this creepy old guy picture and a wagon....

.... but while were in the pioneer village, it begins to rain hardcore. kurtis makes a tape casing for my camera, thankfully. we hid out in one of the cabins for a while, and then decided to run to the mill.

(cabin pic)

....the tavern was closed.... =(

after the rain stops we leave the village and walk through this area with a lot of rocks, and kurtis climbs up them.

anyways, after walking back from the pioneer village, we see what looks like a trail. Norcross makes the mistake of saying, Ill follow you to death ...(cant remember what else) but I wont lead.

So thats pretty much encouragement to go down the trail. About halfway down, kurtis yells out that its a point of no return... i think we generally dont believe him... until we get there. i took the easy way and slid down on my ass. there were lots of rocks and it was pretty muddy. the next time i... umm... used the facilites, i wasnt sure if it was poo or mud still.

anyhoo, heres the trail from the bottom looking up.

and here we are, alive at the bottom:

it must have been a trail though, because these were at the bottom:

(stone thing 1 and 2)

after that, we return to the camp. and now remember, i said i thought that days hiking was a lot.

well, the next day rolls around, norcrosss other sister arrives, and for some reason they decide its a GRAND idea to do every trail in the park. i wouldnt really complain, because hey, i needed the exercise. but damn, we did a lot of backtracking. we did at the very least 14 miles of rough terrain in about 7 hrs. they even timed our breaks, and we did not break often. it was very painful.

just remember, when the sign says bridge is out and then you keep walking, and theres another sign that says bridge is out ....THE BRIDGE IS REALLY OUT. The park officials know what theyre doing when they post those little announcements....

but anwyays, we went up the stairs a lot. at least 3 times (i believe 4 though)... they made me feel really safe:

we walked a lot, and i got really tired. here we are just laying down in the middle of some parking lot:

(parking lot pic)

I took this picture from the ground looking up, using those stones that are at the beginning of a parking space for a pillow:

...idk, i just liked it.

i dont think i took this pic on the day of the long hike, but i like it, so enjoy it:

as we walked, i was left behind many times because i wanted to take it easy and go my own pace, you know, ENJOY THE FUCKING SCENERY, instead of rushing through the day. and in the end, the group didnt really make any time by rushing, because they still had to wait for me. way to exclude, yo.

towards the end of the day we even have to include the handicapped trail! but yeah, that didnt fly over well with me. so ive been going at my pace, walking around with a slightly sharpened stick (a Sassy Bill certified pace) but I catch Norcross saying something. This is how the scene plays out.

Norcross: We should do this again, but faster!

Norcross and Kurtis glance back at me.

Me: Its not that you said do it again.... its that you said faster! and as I said faster I lowered my stick like a spear and began running. now, it was just easier to run with the stick down.... i didnt mean for it to sound like i was threatening her, but well, thats how it happened. she begins running, and i think, hey, why not? and continue chasing after her for a while. good stuff.

anyways, we get back to camp after a long day of (successfully) hiking every trail. check out my backpack:

thats all sweat. no joke. that day ends and I go to sleep early. I think kirby shows up that night, but im not 100 percent sure. i think, however, that night i listen to a bunch of redneck hillbillies talk about killing junk. theyre so loud.... uggh. anyways, funny at the very least. they say something about shooting a coyote with some sort of gun, and send its body in pieces... and mowing down coyotes with an uzi. idiots. also, about how if youre doing it in the park, you cant get caught. its all legal if you say self defense though. so just put a gash in your leg with a knife or somethin and say those things attacked you!

the next dayi wake up and hear the honkeys talking again... theyre trying to split wood and get their hatchet or axe or whatever they were using stuck in a piece of wood. so the logical thing to do is... pull out a baseball and starting hitting the handle.

Dont do that, youll break the handle! one hillbilly says. Hit the head of the hatchet.

....me and kurtis make fun of them a bit.... Dont call the an ambulance if they get hurt... they wont learn their lesson.

This is why the world is so retarded, because of modern medicine. weve essentially gotten rid of natural selection by saving the stupid people. stupid people were supposed to die.....

anyways, we go caving that day! now... i dont like slippery rocks and dark enclosed areas. caves... have all of those things. they walked along, leaving me behind again because im slow, i speak out about it once a little bitterly (id have liked to, you know, see things... but i couldnt stop and take pictures, because i kept thinking to myself, gee, do i stop and take a picture or get even FURTHER behind because i cant fuckin see where anyone is?) but yeah... caves. not fun for me. we enter and I immediately begin freaking out. umm... guys... lets go do all the trails again... but faster this time.... thats how much i hated the cave.

the group eventually climbs up these rocks that lead to another chamber. me, with my elite skills at climbing and my sure-footedness of a one legged man, opted to stay behind. i took these pics of the cave...

they climbed up these rocks:

this is a pic of the cave with only me in it:

this is the group climbing down those stones after a long time:

...after that, we started to go down a very tight tunnel. i went for a little bit, freaked out, and just said, uhh, no... no. i cant do this, goodbye.

anyways, heres kurtis and norcross after emerging from the cave:

and kurtis looking like hes about to hit kirby with a giant ball of clay:

heres everyone cleaning off in the creek:

we walk back, and here is tape the duck hiding:

we go swimming during the day, and i cant remember what else. i believe we eat delicious steak that night:

yum... delicious steak.

anyhoo, that night they all play euchre and some other card game i dunno how to play, so i am forced to play dominos with norcrosss aunt and sister. i go to sleep early. the next day the norcross family packs their junk up and leaves. they supplied food and drink to me. i was sad to see them go. But it was our final day as well, so we drive down to the pioneer village to see if there are any moccasins for sale. we wait around, but the leather shop is closed... me and kirby are going to go in the creek, but stop as we see....

so we wait around. after a long time, i finally die:

but luckily someone comes along and uses a phoenix down (or, for the magic nerds, breath of life, a WHITE spell) so we go back to the concession stand. the girl notices kurtis holding tape and laughs. he goes and orders a pretzel (my duck here would like a soft pretzel.)

i look at the ice cream and notice a panda bar.

do you think its made with real panda? i ask kurtis and kirby.

i buy one, curious to know what a panda bar is. its vanilla ice cream covered in chocolate. not bad, but there wasnt any panda in it. dammit, now i want to eat ice cream. and panda. *sigh*

we eventually go back to the leather shop, they dont have any moccasins, and so we pack up our junk and leave. we decide to stay at kurtiss that night.
on the way back we find an awesome giant stone cow:

and stop in a weird named town called oolitic:

back in franklin, me and kurtis go to wal-mart while kirby goes to run.... and then we drive to the video store. after all the traveling, his car finally messes up. at least it didnt happen while we were coming back from spring mill.

we watched deuce biggalow, old school... and lets not forget.. the emperors new groove. that movie is awesome; any movie where an emperor is turned into a llama automatically gets +7 to coolness.

but yeah, kirby drives me home without trouble, i come back, get online that night.... and didnt find any damn comments!! gosh, nice to know you all love me! just kidding, im not a myspace whore. but seriously, not one. ..j/k.

all in all it was a really fun trip and im glad i went on it. i needed it, leaving here was quite a nice escape... you all know im back in my rut now, but well, it was nice while it lasted. hope you enjoyed the pics!
